This is a type of traditional Japanese wrapping cloth called "furoshiki," which is conventionally used to transport gifts, clothes, and other items. This furoshiki is designed with "Katami gawari," a traditional design where the right and left halves of the body, as well as the sleeves, have different patterns or colors.
