Bruce McLaren Motor Racing was first founded in 1963, and made its Formula One Grand Prix debut in 1966. McLaren soon expanded its racing operations to the U.S., first entering a car in the Indianapolis 500 in 1970. Sam Schmidt founded Sam Schmidt Motorsports in 2000, following a racing accident that left him paralyzed. In 2019, McLaren’s American racing operations and then-named Schmidt Peterson Motorsports agreed to a joint entry, creating what is now known as Arrow McLaren. To honor Arrow McLaren’s past and present, we referenced the vintage script Bruce McLaren used on his car.
